2022 new BMW M2 to come with 473hp track focused variant

The new BMW M2 is expected to get an upgraded version.

The new BMW M2 is expected to get an upgraded version of BMW's turbocharged six-cylinder S58 engine, which produces 473 hp matching the existing M4. This will give it a 29 hp advantage over the standard M2, which itself will produce 444 hp from the S58 powerplant – the same output power as the F87M2CS will be sent to the rear wheels via BMW's paddleshift eight-speed automatic gearbox. The car will be the same size as the standard M2, and the latter is about 50 mm larger than the previous generation. This is due to the cluster architecture platform that the G87M2 shares with other BMW models including the 8 Series Coupe and X7 SUV.

The new model is expected to be badged the M2 CS or CSL (the latter name has been revived on the limited run M4 CSL), and will follow the G87M2 as a more powerful, track-focused version of Munich's baby performance car. It will be positioned similar to the previous generation top-wrang M2 CS, the most hardcore version of the F87M2 and a firm-up version of the famous M2 competition that was also sold in India. The BMW M2 will come with a splitter more aggressive and lower front end, as well as an integrated rollover bar and rear spoiler.

The new M2 CS is expected to weigh less than the standard M2. By comparison, the weight of the last-generation M2 CS was 25 kg less than that of the standard M2 (1,575 kg). The weight for the new M2 is yet to be revealed, but due to the new base it is expected to be heavier than the F87M2, Not heavy as the M4 Coupe, which weighs 1,725 kg.

While there is no news yet of the new M2 coming to India, we expect BMW to introduce a limited number of models like other M cars in the Indian market.
