Tata recently launched the Tiago EV in the Indian market, and interestingly, despite being cheaper than the Tigor EV, it offers more equipment than the latter. Vivek B Srivatsa, head of marketing, sales and service strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, said in an interview with our sister publication Whatcar India that some features of the hatchback will be incorporated in the sedan. Existing Tigor EV owners will get some features through software updates and the Tiago EV is likely to be launched in a month's time, he said.

Tata Tiago offers the EV with multi-mode regen and cruise control function, which is not offered in the existing Tigor EV. However, Tata will soon bring these features to the Tigor EV, and also roll out to existing owners through software updates.

This is not the first time Tata is offering more features on its EVs through software updates. Earlier, Tata had introduced features like regen, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system in Nexon Prime soon after the launch of longer range and better equipped Nexon EV Max.

Additional controls and switchgear for region braking and cruise control are likely to be added to the service centre. Tata says the software updates will be free. However, additional hardware may be chargeable.

Mechanically, the Tigor EV will remain the same and continue with a 26 kW battery pack and an ARAI-certified range of 306 km. This battery powers an electric motor that generates 75 bhp of power and 170 Nm of torque.
