Fifth generation Range Rover in India 2022 - First Look

The Range Rover is priced between Rs 2.38 crore and Rs 3.43 crore. The variants available also include autobiography and exclusive and limited run first edition. The 2022 Range Rover has already started reaching customers in India since deliveries began in July.

It is taller and wider than before and, at the same time, also comes with a longer wheelbase. While the headlights look cool, digital LED lights can put a shade forward and customers can choose from a wide range of patterns. The fog lights that were earlier round are now rectangular and fit flawlessly in the front bumper. The smooth design also appears in front, where shoulder lines and window lines gel seamlessly. Additionally, the door handles fit flush into the body and pop out thanks to the proximity sensor built into the key FOB. The fifth generation Range Rover rides on 22-inch alloys and customers also have the option to get a 23-inch wheelset. The Range Rover at the rear becomes even more exciting. The black panel running through the tailgate camouflages the tail light panel. Panel remains black when lights are not in use. But once switched on, they light up in a soothing pattern.

The interior looks focused on providing the best luxury. To begin with comes devoid of dash buttons or any form of clutter. The 13.1-inch curved glass infotainment system provides all the functionalities that occupants may need. The climate control system panel sits at the bottom and then there are several covered QB holes in the center console. The unit can be customized to the needs of the driver and, overall, the unit looks rather enticing.

The unit is a 1,600W Meridian signature sound system with an additional 20W speakers in four main headrests for the most immersive sound experience. The third generation Active Noise Cancellation3 system monitors wheel vibration, tire noise and engine sounds transmitted to the cabin and generates a cancel signal, which is played through the system's 35 speakers. These include a pair of speakers of 60 mm diameter in the headrest for each of the four main cabin occupants, creating individual quiet areas similar to the impact when using high-end headphones.

The boot has over 800 litres of cargo space which can be further increased by reclining the rear seats. But the party piece is definitely the Range Rover Tailgate Event Suite 2 which comes as an optional addition. With this package, the split tailgate turns into a seating area and the sound system is programmed to provide better sound quality at the back by cutting the speaker into the driver's area. Lights have also been installed to add to the aura and needless to say, there are glass holders too.

The new Range Rover offers the latest Mild-Hybrid (MHEV) 3.0-litre petrol engine, which delivers 394bhp of power and 550Nm of torque, and a 3.0-litre diesel engine, 345bhp of power and 700Nm of torque. A powerful new petrol flagship comes in the form of a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 that produces 523bhp of power and 750Nm of torque. The new Range Rover comes with an extensive line-up of six and eight cylinder powertrains.

The six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines have the latest 48V MHEV technology that produces energy usually lost under deceleration and braking to boost fuel efficiency. The clever belt-integrated starter motor of the system ensures more responsive and sophisticated operation of the stop-start system and provides additional support to the engine when accelerated.
